Zombie Outbrick: Episode 24

blockcomics
26th Aug 2011, 12:19 AM

Well, it looks like that poor man has passed on...

But what hasn't the policeman been telling Chris, Karen, and the Boss? It seems he's known something all along...

I'm not really thrilled with the way this episode's photography came out, especially compared to how proud of my photography I was with the last episode. Sometimes I have to remind myself, that usually even the worst pictures I get from my newer camera, still far surpass some of the best pictures from my old camera.

I actually cut out quite a few unnecessary lines from this episode, as well as making some other last-minute script changes. I had originally scripted this episode to be one of my newer 5-panel layouts, but I ended up switching it back to the regular 6-panel layout. One reason I did that is because I liked the picture I used for panel 6; it seems to have a better "episode-ending" feel than the wide shots I took.

Would this episode have been better with a 5-panel layout? (with the policman's dialogue in panels 5 and 6 in a single bubble)

Thank you rickcolbert, that's a huge compliment!

I'm glad you're enjoying it, there should hopefully be many more episodes to come. ;)

How did he know? Why aren't they coming? I want answers. :P

I have a pretty good idea as to why the paramedics aren't coming. The comic is called ZOMBIE OUTBRICK, after all.

Hah, very true, Monkey! But the real question is how much the policeman knows about what's actually going on.

I bet he was there! That rotten scoundrel! He probably saw the first zombie transform and is on a mission to kill them all! Or he was in on the outbrik--I mean outbreak ;P

Perhaps, MadameLecter!

Another possibility, again, is that he just knows when all paramedics take their lunch break... ;)

i think it looks better in the 6 panel layout, if all the ploiceman's speech was in one bubble it wouldn't have the dramatic effect

sorry meant policeman not ploiceman

Hah, I read through your comment quickly, so I didn't notice it the first time around!

Thanks for letting me know, I suppose that the 6-panel layout does work better dramatically, for this episode.

I will second that notion. There's a dramatic effect, plus the subtle pan back to show the others watching him for what he has to say.

I'd say in the end that the shots for this episode are decent.

So now we just all impatiently wait for the Policeman to spit it all out and explain what it is he knows.

The "subtle pan back" as you called it was actually a last-minute adjustment, when I decided to switch up the images for the 5th and 6th panels. I figured it worked out better than continuing to zoom in closer and closer on him (I'll have to do that later, anyway.)

I'm glad you think the shots turned out at least decent, I guess they aren't all that bad after all.

Hah, unfortunately I think I kind of need one more episode to transition into all of that... I hope that's not going to be a problem.

Is the guy who got shot dead? Or maybe he isn't? I mean, the reason why he got shot is because he was bitten by a zombie, right? So, is he gonna die? Or, is he gonna come back...
FROM THE DEAD!
(dun!dun!duuuuun!)

Yeah, that guy is dead now. In the script, I originally had Chris check for pulse/breathing and figure out he was definitely dead. I cut that part out, though. There wasn't really enough space for it, and I thought that since Karen had already pronounced him dead, it wouldn't be terribly necessary.

As for exactly why he got shot in the first place, and what will happen to him now, you'll just have to wait and see! ;)
