Zombie Outbrick: Episode 27

And so we are introduced to Officer Davis, who called for backup. It looks like there might be a riot in progress...

Does that guy in the last panel look a little familiar to anyone?

This episode was very fun, and very challenging, to make.

Not only did I have to adapt a little bit to using this newer "early-morning" color/tint (orange, instead of the usual "pale office lights" blue), but I also ended up having to put fog in most panels... not only to illustrate that it's still early morning, but also to hide my lack of a background.

And look carefully at panel 2 and panel 4. See something strange about them? Here's a hint: I don't actually have two police cars. ;)

I wasn't quite satisfied with the photography for this episode, as I rushed it a little to get in all 8 of the necessary shots. (I needed 2 shots for each panel that had two police cars in it, then 4 more shots for the rest of the panels.) I actually ended up shooting this episode backwards, too. Not to mention, my shots were somewhat limited by the size of my background set...

I suppose the photography isn't too terrible, all things considered...

Anyway, let me know what you think of this episode.

I may have to post larger versions of the panels with two police cars in them on Flickr, so that you can see them in all their glory. ;)

I spent a few hours researching old lego police car sets. There are a few of them.

Couldn't find any thing that looked like what I remember. Or that was any where near as good as the one you made.

Hah, thanks plymayer!

I just hate it when you remember something really great from a long time ago, but there's nothing on the whole of the Internet that would prove it ever existed! It can be quite frustrating.

OMG! Those people are zombies! (right?)

Well, some of them.

There's only one zombie in the last panel, the rest of the people are running away from zombies in the crowd. (Well, maybe not running... more like "walking as fast as they can in a tightly-packed mass of people.")

That fog is awesome, and I love the blurred effect in that last panel.

Also, that guy in the last panel looks like the victim in the zombie MOC you posted awhile back. I hope he doesn't face the same fate.... D:

Thanks Lee! The "blurred effect" in the last panel was achieved through the wonders of "manual focus" on my camera. ;)

And you're right about the guy in the last panel, he does have the same face as the guy in my zombie MOC! But I think the clothes he's wearing are more important.

Do you happen to remember the first zombie that ever appeared in this comic, in the news footage way back on Episode 11? (Look closely - he's in the last panel) ;)

I like it. You've done very well with the fog effects and shots.

And yes! Another zombie!

Also, I got my photos uploaded for my LEGO Police collection. I'm not sure how well those do for comparison shots from the 80's to 2011.

Thanks, Silver Fox!

And I guess this comic could always use more zombies... There haven't been very many so far, for a zombie comic.

Also, I checked out the police pictures on your Flickr, it's awesome to see the police cars, motorcycles, and minifigs as they progressed over the years. Cool stuff!

I'm glad you liked the pics. Those are everything I have til I get a hold of the Mobile Police Unit or the 2011 Police Station.

It's cool to be able to see the present and the past side-by-side. We have a lot of well-taken pictures of current LEGO sets (especially from the LEGO website itself,) but I often can't find good pictures of many of the old sets. So I think the newest sets out there are less important to compare.

Also, I thought you might like to know, you're the 2400th visitor (according to Comic Fury stats, which add the all the daily numbers of visitors together...) And your comment was the 300th comment on Zombie Outbrick.

Sweetness, now if only there were a prize for that...

I plan eventually to have a photo archive of my personal LEGO collection and I think it's from the fact that many people just haven't taken pictures of the older sets.

Yeah, if only I had the cash for a prize... ;)

And I guess they haven't. As time goes on, those older sets probably become harder and harder to find, as they get disassembled, scattered, then sold or lost as individual pieces. I think it'd be really cool to set up an online LEGO museum, with every set ever... Maybe eventually, your archiving project could turn into that!

I'm assuming that the thing the new officer is holding is a microphone? I don't think that's gunna help much. haha

The other officer is holding a megaphone (slightly different than a microphone.) And it may or may not help, we'll just have to wait and see! ;)
