Zombie Outbrick: Episode 44

blockcomics
7th Nov 2011, 1:00 AM

And so the group explores the possibilities of what is going on around them, and Karen raises a very concerning question...

Two weeks ago, I announced that Zombie Outbrick had been added to the Brick Comic Network dropdown menu; an achievement for any member of the BCN community. This week, however, I am very proud to announce that I have received an even higher honor: I have now been given official Author status on the Brick Comic Network.

This group of official BCN Authors is made up of only a handful of the best brick comic writers (I believe there are only around 22 Authors, including myself), and new members must be voted in by the already existing members. (Whereas the BCN Dropdown Menu only requires a brick-comicker to have released 40 strips/comics, and approval from the member who maintains the dropdown.)

If you want, you can take a look at my brand-new page for Zombie Outbrick on the BCN website here.

Also, due to popular request, I have now added a "dramatic music" button (in the shape of a LEGO-built musical note) on every comic page. It should appear below the comic image, to the right of the comment and navigation buttons.

Now you can click it whenever there's a supsenseful last panel! (Or whenever you feel it is necessary.) ;)

Please let me know what you think of this episode, my official BCN Author status, or the new dramatic music button!

Sure, you can get it. If one of them bites ya!

I've heard there's another way to get it...

I mean, yeah, you're right!

Although the group hasn't seen anyone really get bitten, so they don't know about zombie bites yet.

The dramatic music thing is awesome. I don't consider it that important and more of a gag joke, but awesome nonetheless.

Thanks! It sort of is a joke, meant to be more silly than serious. I'm glad you still think it's awesome, though!

Yesss... now they start to add 2 and 2 together for 5!

Cue more shambling hordes of zombies.

Well, I don't think they're that bad at math... ;)

But yeah, they're starting to put things together.

And what is it with you and shambling hordes of zombies? ;)

Again, congrats on Author Statusship! :D

She has a point--if we were as clueless as these guys, I would ask that question too! Oh and the music button won't work for me...:(

Thanks MadameLecter!

And haha, "clueless" is one way to describe it.

I'm sorry the music button doesn't work for you, I haven't really tested it much. What browser are you using?

Music button doesn't work for me either.

As to shambling hordes of zombies... its easier to run from them then ambushed.

I'm sorry to hear that! Could you tell me what browser you're using? I have a feeling the browser might be the problem... (I only know the button works for sure on Internet Explorer.) Perhaps I can fix it...

And that's true, about the horde. I'll let you in on a secret, though... There is a horde scene in the script coming up, but it's got a few more episodes to go first... ;)

Whoot!

I am using Firefox. I dropped Explorer due to the number of problems and crashes I was getting from it.

Ah, good to know. I'll see if there's a way to fix sound files so they play on Firefox...

I think the story is unfolding well. As far as whether any of us would jump to conclude, "Well, ZOMBIES, OBVIOUSLY!", I'm not so certain. Remember that though we've been lucky enough to have all these great episodes, all these events are actually unfolding rather quickly. If you were confused, terrified & dealing with deaths & the police, even if "HUH... almost seems like Zombies!" came across your mind in real life would you so easily say it? OUT LOUD? It would sound crazy almost silly for one thing, and quite callous in light of the tragic events for another.

Great job!

And even though we needn't use the music button every time, it's great to have it there! Love it!

All very good points, Mel, A-Real-Life-Zombie.

And thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the comic so far.

I suppose the music button is there, just in case anyone might want to use it. Glad you like it!

So I'm making the assumtion that your zombies are virus or bacterial based? Or are the characters going in the wrong direction?

Perhaps they're viral-based - but there's always the possibility that they aren't. You'll have to wait and find out as our characters do!

Music button isn't working :(
But I get dramatic music everytime I load a comic, though.

I'm using Google Chrome.

Thanks for letting me know, Matt S. How strange that it plays automatically in Google Chrome... (There's a specific setting for playing sound as soon as the page loads, which I thought I'd disabled.)

It would appear that the music button only works properly in Internet Explorer. I've found a more coding-involved way to make the music button work across all browsers, but it'll take some work to adapt it to this site.

I think what I may have to do, is disable it entirely (at least for non-Internet Explorer users) until I set up a cross-browser compatible version.

Great. If one of them goes pale from fright, there could be problems.

Hmm... you're right. That certainly puts a new spin on "scared to death," doesn't it? ;)
